Donato Tramuto and Tramuto Foundation Honor Educators, Elevate Compassion, and Inspire the Next Generation

Ogunquit, Maine – August 20, 2026 – As the nation prepares to observe National Compassionate Leadership Week, officially designated to the TramutoPorter Foundation by the National Day Calendar and celebrated this year from September 6–12, the Foundation proudly announces the continuation of one of its most meaningful traditions: the Annual September 11th Educator Program.

Created to honor the courage, empathy, and resilience demonstrated by educators across the country, the program stands as a living tribute to the spirit of unity and service that emerged in the wake of September 11, 2001. Each year, the Foundation recognizes educators who exemplify compassionate leadership, individuals who shape the future not only through instruction, but through humanity, kindness, and purpose.

“On a day when our nation reflects on profound loss and extraordinary unity, we choose to shine a light on those who guide the next generation with compassion,” said Donato J. Tramuto, Co-Founder of the TramutoPorter Foundation. “Educators remind us that compassion is not an abstract ideal. It is a daily practice, one that strengthens communities and transforms lives.”

Expanding Participation in 2026

This year, the Foundation is expanding participation by engaging the colleges and universities where the TramutoPorter Foundation maintains endowed grants, including Boston University School of Public Health, Lasell University, St. Joseph’s College, Jefferson School of Population Health, and Regis College. These academic partners are being encouraged to include students in the September 11th program, broadening the reach of compassionate leadership to emerging leaders across disciplines.

By inviting students to join educators in this annual observance, the Foundation aims to deepen intergenerational dialogue, strengthen civic engagement, and inspire young people to carry forward the values of empathy, courage, and service.

Defiant Hope: The 2026 Theme

This year’s program is anchored in the theme Defiant Hope, crafted by Founder Donato J. Tramuto to affirm a powerful truth: darkness does not have the final word. In a time marked by global uncertainty and social division, Defiant Hope calls on educators and students alike to lead with conviction, compassion, and an unwavering belief in the possibility of a better world.
